Board Member
Tina Greenwood, a devout Christian, devoted wife to Danny Greenwood, and mother of two, has passionately dedicated her life to education. A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, Tina's enthusiasm for nurturing the minds of the young is evident in her 23-year tenure with the Little Rock School District (LRSD). Starting as a classroom teacher, her journey in education has encompassed roles such as Literacy Coach, Reading Recovery Teacher, Teacher Leader, Early Childhood Specialist, and Assistant Principal, culminating in her current 8-year tenure as Principal of Gibbs International Magnet Elementary School. Her decision to serve in LRSD reflects her desire to contribute to the community that shaped her own educational journey.
Tina's academic credentials include a BSE in Early Childhood Education and Middle School Social Studies from the University of Central Arkansas, Conway (2001), a Master’s in Reading from the same institution (2003), and an Educational Specialist degree in School Leadership and Supervision from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (2007). A testament to her dedication to early literacy, Tina earned her Reading Recovery Teacher Leader certification in 2010 and achieved National Board Teaching Certification in 2012, a prestigious recognition held by fewer than 130,000 educators nationwide.
Beyond her professional achievements, Tina is a committed member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Chi Eta Omega Chapter, and the Arkansas Association of Elementary School Principals (AAESP). She is a founding member of Respectfully Social and a proud Girl Scouts Troop Leader at Gibbs Magnet, which allows her to forge deeper connections with her students.
Throughout her career, Tina has been honored as Teacher of the Year, recognized in an Urban magazine as a leading African American Principal, and featured in Reading Recovery training videos. She has actively contributed to professional development for teachers, presented at national conferences, and served on numerous committees and boards aimed at enhancing educational programs and student opportunities in LRSD.
Tina Greenwood remains steadfast in her commitment to serving God, her family, her students, and her community, always striving to unlock the potential within each child and equip them with the leadership and life skills needed for success.
